Mountain guava: climatic factors bring research back to the species' center of origin

The cultivation of mountain guava in the Serrana region of Santa Catarina can take advantage of the climatic conditions unfavorable to the development of anthracnose to increase the chances of successfully establishing the crop. If the expectations of market acceptance of the fruit are confirmed, it will be easier to justify greater investments in research, including extending cultivation to other regions, if convenient, by selecting cultivars resistant to anthracnose.
