In Santa Catarina, outbreaks of populations of corn leafhopper (Dalbulus maidis), the insect vector of microorganisms associated with corn stunting, were observed in the 2020/2021 crop year, with a significant impact on corn production and productivity. Thus, both an overview of this problem in Santa Catarina and etiological and bioecological aspects of biotic agents involved in this pathosystem were discussed, as well as the main management strategies recommended to mitigate its impact on corn crops.
