Dichelops furcatus biology and description the developmental stages

The green belly stick bug Dichelops furcatus (Fabr.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is causing damages in corn fieldsin the Western region of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The biology of this insect, characterizing their development stage, was
studied at the Plant Protection Laboratory of Epagri/Cepaf adopting the temperature of 25 ± 2 ºC and photoperiod of 14
hours and relative humidity of 60 ± 1%. The biological cycle (egg to adult) of this insect occurred in 36.53 ± 4.96 days allowing
the development of several generations per year. The sex ratio found for this species was 0.45. Each female laid 11.43 ± 3.25
times having each posture 11.85 ± 1.06 eggs which had 91.72% viability. The adult longevity of males and females reached
respectively 84.79 ± 17.06 and 112.38 ± 23.05 days.
