Abstract

Cassava is an important crop in southern coast of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The crop establishment
is done by pieces of stem buried into the soil. During the winter, the stems must be sheltered to avoid dehydration caused by winds and direct solar radiation, and damages from frost. The present research proposes a new management
for keeping cassava stems under a Cameroon grass wind shelter during the cold season, which showed to be efficient on keeping the good quality of the seed-stems for the next growing season.
