Abstract

A greenhouse experiment was set up at Epagri’s Experiment Station in Videira, SC, Brazil, with the aim of verifying the allelopathic potential of extracts obtained from different weed species on the growth of established cuttings of the VR 043-43 grapevine rootstock. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 17 treatments and four replications. Extracts prepared from both aerial parts and roots of eight weed species were used to irrigate the rooting rootstock cuttings twice a week for 45 days. After this period, fresh and dry weights of roots and shoots length and average number of roots from cuttings were evaluated. Results indicated that the extracts from the weed species studied show positive allelopathic effects on the growth of VR 043-43 rootstock.
