Nutrient absorption curve and dry mass accumulation of the giant missionary grass in two growing seasons

Aiming to add information on nutrient absorption curves in giant missionary-grass, an experiment was carried out in a pasture established for two years. The accumulation curve of macro (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) and micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B) and plant dry mass were evaluated from cuts performed at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after grazing. There was a linear increase in N and K concentrations in giant missionary-grass during autumn, but this effect was not observed in summer. Plant P, Ca, and Mg levels remained stable in both periods, and micronutrient concentration, especially Fe, tended to decrease in both seasons. Plant dry mass accumulation at 28 days was higher in autumn than in summer.
