SCS458 Osvino: early tangerine cultivar with high productive potential, cold tolerance and seedless
Keywords:
Citrus spp., mandarim, fresh fruit marketAbstract
Abstract - Tangerines are highly appreciated by consumers because they are generally easy to peel, they have buds that separate easily and have unparalleled flavor and aroma. In addition to the organoleptic characteristics, tangerines have nutritive function and allow good economic return in small areas of cultivation. Supply of tangerines in the off-season, from October to February, is an interesting strategy to obtain higher profitability. The adoption of early cultivars, together with the microclimates that exert influence during the maturation and harvest season, is a strategy to be considered for tangerine cultivation. In this sense, 'SCS458 Osvino' is the earliest cultivar among the most important tangerines cultivated in Santa Catarina State, being an auxiliary option for better demand at a time when there is a low supply of this fruit. It also presents an excellent commercial appeal for being seedless.
