Abstract

The doses and forms of phosphate fertilizer application in the soil can influence crop yield and phosphorus distribution in the profile. The objective of this study was to examine the response of crops to the application of P and the distribution of its contents in the profile of a Hapludox after seven years. We applied doses of 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80kg/ha of P2 O5 broadcast and in the furrow, in no-till system, evaluating the yield of wheat, soybean, bean, and corn. The application of P in the soil increased grain yield of all crops, with linear response for wheat and corn, quadratic response for soybean and exponential yield for one cycle of bean. The application of P in the furrow was more efficient than broadcast to the bean, but it did not affect the yield of other crops. There was accumulation of P in the surface layers of soil, with an exponential relationship with the doses applied in layers up to 10cm deep, sampled in both the broadcast and in the furrow application.
