Abstract

The objectve of this study was to evaluate the effect of recycling paper residues on the chemical atributes of an acid Inceptsol and on maize yield. The experiment had a randomized block design, with three replicatons. The authors evaluated doses of recycling paper residues in these amounts: 50, 100, 150, 250, 400 and 600t/ha of wet mass. In additon, there was an evaluaton of a treatment with lime to reach pH 6 in water and a control group, without either residue or lime applicaton. The residue increased soil pH and improved other chemical propertes. The level of heavy metals in the soil was not affected by the residues, even in greater doses. The highest maize grain yield was observed with 308t/ha of residues.
