Abstract

The application of manure in agricultural areas can change soil physical atributes, which depends upon the historic of this application and on soil use and management. To study the effect of three periods of pig slurry application on physical soil atributes in areas with use under pasture or crops, soil samples with preserved structure in felds with combinaton of
these factors were collected, in the microcatchment of Coruja/Bonito River, Braço do Norte county, Santa Catarina state, Southern Brazil. There were differences in soil partcle sizes between period of applications and layers sampled, which cannot be atributed only to the factors studied. The organic mater content and the aggregate stability are higher under pasture than
under crops and decreases in depth. The period of pig slurry application did not affect the majority of the physical atributes studied, showing that the effect of this procedure is low in areas with pasture and crops in these sandy soils.
