Abstract

The instability of genotypes in different environments is due to the interaction between genotypes and environments. When there is high interaction, the recommendation of genotypes to specific environmental condition is necessary. The objective of this study was to evaluate the stability and adaptability of grain yield in six maize open pollination varieties studied in 11 experiments carried out during agricultural seasons of 2004/05, 2006/07 and 2007/ 08. The stability and adaptability were evaluated by three methodologies. It was not possible to identify varieties with general adaptation. Fundacep 35 and SCS155 Catarina were the breeding varieties that showed the most similarity to the ideal genotype.
