Costs of adhesive handcrafted traps for capturing insect pests

Colored adhesive traps can be used to monitor and control insect pests in agricultural crops and in urban areas. In this paper, the costs of two models of adhesive handcrafted traps made with handcrafted and commercial entomological glue were calculated, comparing to a commercial trap model. It was found that the models of handcrafted traps are more economically viable, being 1.7 to 8.2 times cheaper than the commercial model, providing savings of up to R$ 1,429.07 monthly ha-1.
