Abstract

Soybean production is of great importance in Brazil, both in volume and monetary values and shows a growth trend
with each harvest. Thus, the crop input market is equally relevant. Santa Catarina is a prominent region in producing soybean seeds, one of the determining inputs for the crop’s success. Therefore, this work aims to observe the dynamics of the soybean seed market from the perspective of people working in the sector, bringing the current vision and future perspectives for the development of this department. To this end, semi-structured interviews were carried out with managers and technicians. As the main results, it was observed that the importance of the soybean seed sector for organizations is highly variable. Most organizations have made and intend to make investments in the seed sector. Around 95% of those interviewed indicated the climate as the main factor responsible for the success of soybean seeds in the state. Thus, the soybean seed production sector in Santa Catarina is highly organized, constantly evolving and with promising growth prospects.
