Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate grain yield of local varieties (landraces) obtained from
family farms from the Western region of Santa Catarina, including three improved cultivars from Epagri under organic cultivation. The field experiments were carried out in the experimental area at Epagri/Cepaf in Chapecó,
Santa Catarina State, Brazil, in the agricultural years of 2005/06 and 2006/07. Some local varieties yielded more than 6,000kg/ha.
