Abstract: Apple is a fruit crop dependent of pollinator plants in an orchard to ensure fruit production, because parthenocarpy (fruits with no seeds) is not a common event in apples species. This study was to evaluate the efficiency of different apple selections and control-cultivars as pollinators for Daiane apple cultivar in Middle-west of Santa Catarina State. The pollinators evaluated were: selections developed for Epagri 140/37, 140/76, 140/215, 140/216, 140/228, 140/279 and 140/513, and two control-cultivars, ‘Sansa’ and ‘Granny Smith’. All genotypes presented coincidence of the flowering period for cv. ‘Daiane’, but the selection 140/279 was too much instable on flowering period along the years, being discarded as pollinator for ‘Daiane’. All pollinators indicated good compatibility of pollen-stigma with ‘Daiane’. The best pollinator was 140/76, because this selection presented good flowering period, good adaptation to local climate, high rate of pollen germination, resistance to Glomerella leaf spot, and it has induced high fruit set and high number of seeds per fruit in ‘Daiane’ cultivar.Metrics
