Agricultural Research in Santa Catarina: 50 Years of History

In 2025, agricultural research will celebrate its 50th anniversary in Santa Catarina. To understand the importance of this work, we must look back at history. Since 1975, research has been benefiting Santa Catarina's rural producers. The creation of the Santa Catarina Agricultural Research Company (Empasc) was a milestone in the history of research in Santa Catarina.

New rules for the journal's article submission process

The editorial team of Agropecuária Catarinense journal, always attentive to editorial innovations and seeking alignment with the foundations of open science, announces changes to the rules for article submission. As of December/2024, the journal has adopted two significant changes for the submission and review of its manuscripts: the adoption of the CRediT taxonomy and the deposit of article data.

Launched at the end of December, the recent edition of the jorunal highlights the integrated systems of agricultural production, the Sipas. According to FAO, Sipas are intentional agricultural integrations with a synergistic relationship between the components of crops. The activities, when properly managed, result in social improvement, economic and environmental sustainability, in addition to improving the livelihoods of farmers. Several articles on this topic have been published, focusing on the production of pasture for animal production and the interaction between plant species in integrated systems.
