The interest in the culture of the olive tree, a plant native to the Mediterranean basin, is beginning to spread to regions that are climatically different from its place of origin. For the analysis of the potential of cultivation in a new region, the knowledge of the agroclimatic indexes of this culture is the first step to study the real possibility of success of this enterprise.
In this literature review, current knowledge about the basic needs of the olive tree was studied to achieve commercially sustainable development and production. The chilling requirement, the temperature at flowering, the water requirement were analyzed and discussed.
