Abstract

Liming in no-till system is made on the soil surface, which requires long term for its reaction. The
objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of superficial application of lime on some chemical properties in the profile of an acid soil, after long term, in no-till system. Soil was analyzed at seven layers up to 60cm deep, 93 months after the application of dolomitic lime doses, corresponding to zero, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and 1 time the necessity
to rise the soil pH to 6,0. The experiment was carried out on an Hapludox soil, in Campos Novos, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Liming increased pH in water and reduced the content of H+Al, Al and Mn, but did not affect the availability of the micronutrients Cu, Zn and Mn. Regarding to the  effects of lime doses along the soil profile, pH in KCl, Ca and Mn were affected until 10cm; pH in water and H+Al until 15 cm; Al until 20cm and Mg until 40cm.
