          Abstract

It is very difficult to produce and to get common vetch and wild radish seeds, so it is necessary to
optimize the use of these seeds. The sowing at adequate depth is an important cultural practice to these cover crops.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of five sowing depth on the germination and on the emergency and
growth rate of common vetch and wild radish seedlings. An experiment was carried out in a green house at Epagri/ Experiment Station of Canoinhas, SC, Brazil. Sowing depths between 2 and 6cm are adequate for germination of seeds, emergency and early growth rate in seedlings of common vetch and wild radish.
