      Abstract

      Nowadays with the globalization of the economy it is very easy and fast to exchange knowledge and
      germoplasm over the world. In the other hand, the possibility of introducing new pests and disease has increased the risks of economic losses. This paper is an alert for the temperate fruit growers that want to introduce new vegetative materials in order to propagate them in Brazil without quarantine service. The fire blight caused by a bacterium is one of the most severe quarantine diseases of the pome fruits in Southern Brazil.
