            Abstract

            This paper aims to present the new cultivar of cassava produced by the Epagri Breeding Program/Experimental Station Urussanga called SCS254 Sambaqui. This cultivar has high yield and high levels of starch in the roots. The roots have a white membrane (characteristic desirable for the production of flour feature), upright stem without bifurcation, easy harvest, easy detach of the harvested roots and is resistant to bacterial blight . Its cultivation is indicated for the state regions: Carbonífera, Extremo Sul e Colonial Serrana; Alto Vale do Rio Itajaí e Vale do Rio Uruguai.
