      Abstract

      The objective of this work is to discuss the impacts on the price of garlic produced in Santa Catarina, due to the import of the Argentine product, via MERCOSUR.

      • Francisco Gelinski Neto, Federal University of Santa Catarina

        He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (1985) and in Business Administration from the Catholic School of Administration and Economics of Paraná (1984), a master's degree in Rural Economics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1992) and a PhD in Production Engineering - Business Intelligence from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2007). He is currently an associate professor IV at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He has experience in the area of ​​Economics, with an emphasis on Agrarian Economics and Natural Resources, having worked in recent years on the following topics: shrimp farming in Santa Catarina, productive groups, analysis of environmental factors, innovation and technology in agribusiness, agribusiness economics, GMOs, agriculture, biotechnology and public safety. More recently, his concern has turned to issues related to the economy of the environment: extreme climate effects, the use of biodigesters in agriculture and the impact of Sewage Treatment Plants in urban areas.

      • Celso Leonardo Weydmann, Federal University of Santa Catarina

        He holds a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Amazonas (1977), a master's degree in Rural Economics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1980), and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of London (1994). He also completed a postdoctoral internship (2001-2002) at Purdue University. He is currently a retired full professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He was the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Economics at UFSC from 2003 to 2005. He taught Microeconomic Theory in the undergraduate program and Econometrics in the master's program. His most recent work is in the area of ​​agricultural prices, regulation and pig farming.
