    Abstract

    The increase in the price of chemical fertilizers has increasingly burdened farmers, who are unable to fertilize their crops adequately. This contributes to the degradation of natural resources and declining productivity, with consequent financial and environmental decapitalization. It was with this view of the regional problem, and the potential and importance of reversing the negative situation, that technicians from the Center for Research on Small Properties - CPPP/EPAGRI and the National Center of EMBRAPA - CNPSA, developed the Environmental Improvement Program for the Regions with the Highest Concentration of Pig Production in the State of Santa Catarina.
