Abstract

Starting with volume 39, in February 2026, the journal Agropecuária Catarinense will fully adopt the six Open Science guidelines proposed by SciELO: explicit alignment with Open Science in its editorial policies, adoption of the CC-BY license, acceptance of manuscripts deposited on preprint servers, continuous publication, requirement for a declaration of availability of research data, and promotion of informed peer review, with encouragement of open evaluation. To this end, RAC revised its editorial policies, standardized the steps of the editorial workflow, created monitoring instruments, and expanded requirements at the time of submission, including declarations on ethics, authorship, research data, and open evaluation. Furthermore, it strengthened its presence in academic and social networks to broaden scientific dissemination. This editorial addresses the journal's new phase, contextualizing the main points of its alignment with SciELO's rules.

  • Juliana Fachin

    Holds a PhD and Master's degree in Information Science, specializing in Information Management, from UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina). Bachelor's degree in Library Science from UFSC. She was a research fellow at INCT-IESP - National Institute of Science and Technology and Inclusion in Higher Education and Research: Santa Catarina Nucleus. Currently, she participates in the following research groups: Laboratory for Metric Studies of Information on the Web (Lab-iMetrics - UFAL); Laboratory for Studies in Knowledge Representation, Competencies and Behavior in Information and Information Retrieval in Digital Media - LABRECRIE (UFBA); Information in Science, Technology and Innovation in Health (IBICT); Collaborative Economies and P2P Production (IBICT); Philosophy and Politics of Information (IBICT); Reading, School Library and Citizenship (UFAL); From 2013-2020, she was managing editor of the journal Ágora: Archival Science in Debate. Her research interests include: Altmetrics; Open Access; SEER/OJS and OCS scientific publishing systems; Scientific publication and communication; and General and specialized information sources; School Library.
