          Abstract

The objectve of this study was to evaluate the genetc divergence among 40 maize hybrids. The experiment was carried out in Chapecó, West of Santa Catarina State, Brazil, in the 2007/2008 crop season. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replicatons. Univariate and multvariate analyses of variance showed differences among hybrids.
Eleven clusters were formed. Due to the highest dissimilarity and grains yield, hybrids DKB 240, CD 397, DOW 2B688, P30F36, XGN 7326, ASR 152, AS 1540, AS 1579, P30R50, and AS 1570 can be used to form new populatons.
