Abstract

The objectve of this study was to evaluate hybrids and open pollinated castor-oil plant cultvars in the Northern Plateau and in the Western Region of Santa Catarina state, Brazil. Two experiments were carried out in the harvest period of 2006/07 in Papanduva and Chapecó. One experiment used seven open pollinaton cultvars and the other used six hybrid cultvars. A completely randomized block design with three replicatons was used. The yields were similar among open pollinaton cultvars and hybrid cultvars both in Papanduva and in Chapecó. However, high severity of an infecton by Amphobotrys ricini in both places was observed.
