      Abstract

The aim of this study was to generate information and knowledge to support policies and strategies for conservation and restoration of riparian forests on pig farms of Santa Catarina State. Information from the Agricultural
Census of Santa Catarina was used. We selected 7,257 pig farms, of which 4,443 (61.2%) had a watercourse, and 2,806 (38.7%) did not. The higher river occurrence was on farms from medium to large size (from 101 to 1,000 pigs). Ninety percent of the farms had watercourses which were less than 10m wide.
