Abstract

Data from hydrological stations and sea surface temperature (SST) were used to evaluate the behavior of the precipitation in Western Santa Catarina State, Brazil, during the La Niña phenomenon. By the use of
statistical methodologies, it was possible to verify that in the October-November and February-March periods, there is a trend of rainfall below the climatic average, which is correlated with the behavior of sea surface temperature of the Equatorial Pacific.
