          Abstract

Citheronia brissotii brissotii (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) caterpillar feeds of the leaves of
paraguay tea (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. - Aqüifoliaceae). To know biological and morphological aspects of this specie a raising methodology was developed at Epagri/Cepaf Fitossanity Laboratory in Chapecó, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The five larval instars of this specie presented an average growth rate of 1,5398 and its life cycle was
completed in periods of 92 to 236 days. The methodology allowed to describe the morphology of the immatures and adults of this specie.
