        Abstract

Bean anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum lindemuthianum is the main disease constraint factor
for low yield in this crop. Disease resistance is one of the most efficient control methods and, in the case of
anthracnose, the cultivar resistance is directly associated to actual fungus races. The objective of this study was to identify the races present in severely infected plants grown in Ituporanga and Petrolândia, Santa Catarina,
Brazil. After monosporic isolation, fungus race was determined by 12 differential cultivars. Isolates from both Alto Vale do Itajaí localities were identified as race 73.
