Template and documents

For text submission, the author must adhere to the following guidelines:

a) The manuscript must contain all mandatory elements and be organized according to the norms and guidelines adopted by RAC.

b) Download the template file to edit your text (The attachment is at the end of this page).

c) The manuscript must be submitted in an editable format: Word, docx, odt.

d) The text must be submitted without the names and identification of the authors. The authors' information must also be removed from the file (.doc). See the tutorial on how to remove authorship from the document: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmIIQZe2VyM

Structure Guidelines:

1 Introduction: Mandatory element. Description of the study's subject.

2 Textual divisions: Mandatory element. The title of this section is defined by the author.

Section divisions: To divide a section into subsections, there must be at least two subsections. The ABNT 6022 – 2018 and ABNT 6024 - 2012 standards apply. Textual divisions follow a progressive numbering order of sections and subsections, as well as the use of alphabetical numbering.

2.1 Subsection: These are secondary themes within a larger subject.
2.2 Subsection

Alphabetical paragraphs

                          a) Cultivars x
                          b) Cultivars y
                           c) Cultivars z [...]

           3 Materials and Methods
           4 Results and Discussion
           5 Conclusion
               References

Section titles: Calibri font, size 12, left-justified, bold.

Text: In simple Calibri font, size 11, justified, 1.5 line spacing. 1cm indent.

Use of acronyms: the first appearance must be preceded by the full name.

Words in another language: must be in italics.

Illustrations: charts, tables, graphs, photos, maps, drawings, diagrams – the rule is the same for all. The font size for attribution and authorship should be smaller than the text font. It must include the title (e.g., Table 1 - Sampling), source (e.g., Source: data obtained from Epagri (2024)). Even if the illustration is by the author, the source must include the author's information, or that it was created by the author. If it is an illustration by the author that was published in other material, it must be mentioned in citation format, e.g., Source: Table obtained from (Santos, 2024). All illustrations must be submitted as a supplementary document, in TIF or PNG format, 600 DPI resolution, attached at the time of submission. Consult the IBGE, Inmetro, and ABNT tabular presentation standards.

For the use of units of measurement, consult the International System of Units document (Inmetro, 2025). In citing the use of AI for image creation used in the text.

Citations: The RAC follows the ABNT NBR 10520:2023 standard. The RAC recommends the use of the author-date system. When referring to an individual, the entry is by last name, e.g., (Suplicy, 2018) or Suplicy (2018). When referring to an institution, the entry is by full name or acronym, e.g., (Epagri, 2025) or Epagri (2025), or (Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária e Extensão Rural de Santa Catarina, 2025).

Direct and literal quotation of up to three lines: should be presented in double quotation marks, e.g.: “Although considered sessile animals, mussels move slowly, releasing and attaching new byssus, seeking a better space to grow and feed among other mussels. [...]” (Suplicy, 2018, p. 77).

Direct and literal quotation of more than three lines: should be indented 3 cm from the margin, presented without quotation marks and with single line spacing, the font size should be smaller than the text, e.g.:

The brown and brown lineages were the ones that suffered the least and
survived. Therefore, it is important to expand studies to include a larger
number of lineages in order to identify those that have best adapted to the
climate of southern Brazil and that will become likely candidates for the
genetic improvement studies that are intended to be conducted (Santos,
           2018, p. 09).

Citations with more than three authors: the use of the expression et al. in italics is recommended, e.g., (Suplicy et al., 2020) or outside the parentheses, Suplicy et al. (2020).

Citation of different texts from the same year and authorship: should be followed by alphabetical representation, e.g., (Suplicy, 2018a, 2018b) or Suplicy (2018a, 2018b). The same representation occurs in the references, in alphabetical and chronological order.

When citing the same author with different publication dates, e.g., (Suplicy, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2024) or Suplicy (2018, 2019, 2021, 2024).

Indirect citations of different authors within the same parentheses can also be used, e.g., (Silva; Andrea; Costa, 2020; Suplicy, 2018; Toresan, 2016). This is generally used to group authors who share the same ideas on a topic.

For other questions regarding the use of citations, please consult the ABNT NBR 10520:2023 standard.

Notes:

Avoid using footnotes for references and citations. If necessary, footnotes should be explanatory, used for comments, clarifications, translations, or explanations that cannot be included in the text. Indicate them in the text using sequential Arabic numerals. Use Calibri font, size 9, and single spacing.

REFERENCES

For this section, RAC adopts the ABNT NBR 6023:2018 standard - references, which guides the presentation of materials cited in the study.

References are presented in alphabetical order, single-spaced, and left-justified. In the case of multiple references from the same author, follow alphabetical order and, in this case, chronological order. When there is more than one reference from the same author in the same year, present them in alphabetical and chronological order, and insert the lowercase alphabetical notation next to the year, according to the citation order. e.g.: Suplicy (2018a) and Suplicy (2018b), the text cited as (a) will be presented in the reference list before the one cited as (b), and so on, if there are more texts.
