            Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance of maize genotypes in presence or absence of seed
inoculation with A. brasilense and nitrogen fertilization. The experiments were carried out in Papanduva and Campos Novos,
Santa Catarina State, Brazil, during 2011/12 and 2012/13 cropping seasons. The experimental design was a complete blocks
with three replications in a 8x2x2 factorial scheme. Eight genotypes with different genetic bases were submitted to presence
or absence of seed inoculation and two N topdressing rates (0 and 100 kg/ha). For grain yield, no interaction was detected
between seed inoculation with A. brasilense and genotypes as well as between inoculation and nitrogen fertilization. The seed
inoculation with A. brasilense did not provide significant increases in grain yield in different genotypes, with and without
            nitrogen fertilization.
